2016 Goals: Life, Blog & School
With 2016 coming up in only a few days (already? that’s crazy!) and the semester ending, I can’t stop thinking about what I did good this year and what I could’ve donne even better. I don’t believe in resolutions and never have. However, I think goals are manageable and achievable. Some of you might think “Isn’t it pretty much the same?” It could be but to me it isn’t.
I see goals as being something you really want to achieve. They guide your thoughts and actions towards something attainable. Goals, to me, just seem much more tangible. I tend to see resolutions as a wish; often people take on resolutions and think they will achieve themselves. They won’t.
So here’s my round up of things I hope to achieve in the following year. I will be doing a check-up on these every 3 months to make sure I’m staying on the right track!
I have divided them into three categories because well that’s just creepy-organized-me.
Go to the gym at least once a week – Okay this is a confession. I used to love going to the gym and lifting weights. Since I moved in my appartment in July, I have purchased a gym membership to a gym really close to me in September and I have only been there twice. Yes, twice. Why? I’m lazy and with going to university and all that I just couldn’t (or wouldn’t) find the time to go. So I’m starting slow and steady and trying to get myself to go do some exercise at least once a week. Wish me luck, please.
Keep my appartment clean & orderly – When my semester is on full-spin I have a tendency of not picking up after myself. I let the dishes pile up, I throw my clothes pretty much everywhere and I find excuses to not sweep my floor. I’m bringing an end to the mess once and for all.
Follow my weekly schedule outline – I have just decided to start planning my weeks in advance. Not that I haven’t tried before, it just hasn’t worked for me. If you want to learn more about how I’m actually doing it and why this time I think it’s the right one, head on over here to this whole post I wrote about Planning Your Week In General For Success.
Spend less money – This year, I am going to budget better. Plan out grocery shopping more, resist my urges & temptations to get fast-food (all the time) and stop buying this I don’t actually need that much.
Finish setting things up – In case you don’t know, I just started this blog. Yes, that’s right! While I’m excited, I know I have a lot of work ahead of me. One of my goals is to finish setting up the design and the features of the blog to my liking.
Be consistent – I have pledged to blog at least three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and when school starts I will have to be really organized in order to keep things rolling as smoothly as possible. I can’t wait to share study tips, strategies and whatnot with you guys, so this shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Grow a readership – Since just starting out, I know I probably don’t have a lot of readers and that’s fine! I have to work on promoting my blog and creating content that will interest people. Speaking of that, if you have a question or a subject you’d like me to talk about, don’t hesitate to talk to me here! Pssst. I always respond!
Reach out to other bloggers – Of course, like anyone out there, I’m a fangirl of some bloggers (don’t worry you’ll learn about them eventually, I promise). I would like to meet/talk to fellow bloggers, get to know them and share stories. After all, blogging is mostly social.
Stop procrastinating – I am so, so guilty of this. You could probably call me the queen of procrastination. This goal is really simple: get off my butt and work. Nothing else to say here.
Study a little bit everyday – School work is already and very present in my weekly plan. However, I want to do a little bit on the weekends as well. I think that working on assignments or readings constantly is necessary to help get better grades and lighten the end of the semester. We’ll see I guess!
Stay on top of readings – Being in Law School, I have a lot of readings to do every week. Trust me, it’s not an understatement. 300-400 pages a week for us is quite normal. I want to make sure I am reading them by the due date and doing summaries on my computer for every reading to add to my class notes.
Wow I have a lot of work planned ahead for 2016! I don’t know if I can do it all but I will certainly try. I think having planned it out and told you guys holds me accountable. I already feel like that’s a step forward in the right direction. This list might change during the year and that’s what it’s made for. I’m excited for 2016!
